Common Questions

Hip replacement questions

Do I need a referral to see a hip replacement surgeon in Adelaide?

Yes. A current GP referral is required to claim a Medicare rebate. Once your referral is received, the rooms will be in touch to arrange a time — or call (08) 7077 0157.

How do I choose a hip replacement surgeon?

Look for fellowship training in hip surgery, experience with the approach you are considering (such as DAA or robotic-assisted), and a surgeon who personally manages your care from consultation through to follow-up.

What is the difference between DAA and robotic hip replacement?

They answer different questions. The direct anterior approach (DAA) is how the hip is reached — through the front, sparing muscle. MAKO robotic assistance is how the implant is planned and positioned. For most patients, Dr Mooney combines both.

Ready to make an appointment?

Call the rooms or submit an online enquiry. A GP referral is required for Medicare rebate purposes.
